The Gold Coast is about to become home to literally one of the biggest shows it's ever seen. Certainly recently, the Pacific Air Show Gold Coast will be launched in a few minutes time. It's an event that's been three years in the planning. It's supported by all levels of government, and it's set to be the biggest event on the gold Coast in years, probably since ninety days back then, ideally timed off the back of the pandemic to stimulate domestic and international tourism. That's the hope, anyway. It'll be here for a few years, too. There's already a few dates locked in the diary for upcoming years as well, but what's it all about the Pacific Air Show? Well, that's why we have Kevin Elliott on the phone. He's here from California to launch his baby. Really, he's the CEO of Code for Leading Creative Marketing Company. But moreover, the engine so described behind the inaugural Pacific Air show Gold Coast and it's good to have you on the phone. Kevin, good morning. Yeah, good morning, Matt. Thanks so much for having me on. We're excited. I bet you are. I bet you are. But this is something new for us on the Gold Coast, so I'm going to need you to explain what it's all about. Well, I'm absolutely happy to do that so I can give you a little background. The event started in 2016 Huntington Beach, California, and has quickly become the largest air show in the United States by attendance. It's a major overwater air show we attract millions of people to come down and watch the event, as well as thousands of boats. It's quite a spectacle, and our vision has been to project that excitement and energy to one of our closest allies across the Pacific Ocean here at the Gold Coast of Australia, and the event will be landing in August of 2020

I can tell you what was happening on the Gold Coast this morning. I got calls from our listeners there to say We've got jets flying over the top of us. Well, what it was they had in the last half hour Two RAAF f a 18 Super Hornets do a flyover. The aircraft were doing multiple passes in the last 30 minutes. They roared past, apparently at 850 K an hour approach from the North, and they were flying as low as 80 metres Then they went back to Amberley. Now the reason they did it is because there's a very big announcement just happened. It is the world's biggest air show, winging its way to the Gold Coast. It's being billed as a global event to rival the Glitter Strip's famous IndyCar race. It's called the Pacific Air Show. It's usually held annually in Huntington Beach, California, but it's coming to Surfers Paradise in August. I think you're fine, not August this year, but August next year. It's part of a five year deal unveiled today by the Tate. The Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, and coming to Australia will be the US Air Force Thunderbirds, the US Navy, Blue Angels, UK Royal Air Force, Red Arrows, Canadian Forces, Snowbirds. The Pacific Airshow claims to attract three million visitors not only to Huntington.

Launched today, the Pacific Airshow which is usually held in California, will also host a sister show on the Gold Coast in August 2023. It's set to be a spectacle of the sky that's already generating plenty of buz. The announcement that the world's biggest airshow will come to the coast has locals intrigued and tourists planning a trip down under a brand new event that's got the mayor in a spin. A couple of loops later, I'm going, Oh, my equilibrium is gone, but that's code for I'm going to be sick. After a roaring announcement yesterday, excitement is building for the Pacific Air show amongst locals just brings another dimension. More people, different interests and obviously a lot of money as well. I'll be the first one to buy a ticket pilot's. So to have this air show coming to the Gold Coast, which really is the world's best beach for having this show for how long and straight it is. I'm super excited. The last show in California generated 105 million dollars. It's predicted we'll see the same result revitalising business in the glitter strip and booking out hotels. We're excited. There's a lot of excitement, even in the United States, people are saying I'm booking my accommodations the second that we know when the event's going to be. I think there will be 100 per cent full because just in the US alone in the media, there's 42 point seven million reach a reach our city will grasp as we continue to bounce back. It will be held in August 2023 and exact date will be announced later this year.

The Gold Coast history on the ground. Fine food, entertainment and you look in the air. All the latest aviation. The city hosted other air shows throughout the 90s and early 2000s. The Pacific Airshow will be held annually on the Gold Coast, with expectations more than 100,000 people will flock to the Glitter Strip for the first event, to be held in August 2023. US-based Code Four CEO Kevin Elliott said the original event, held in the skies above California’s Orange County, had proved a major success and sparked talks about finding a second location. “We really set out to find a location which was similar in nature to Huntington Beach in Orange County, so our director of air operations spent a lot of time googling places where these kinds of events could realistically be held,” he told the Bulletin.

Excitement today with the news that the Gold Coast is set to host a major international event, the first of its kind in Australia. It's being touted as the biggest event ever on the coast, bigger than Indy and the Commonwealth Games. The inaugural Pacific Air show Gold Coast, a sister event to the Pacific Air Show in the US is heading our way in August 2023. And we've secured the international event for 15 years How amazing is this for our city to be able to bring such an international event that's going to really blow people out of the sky? It's a bit of a pun, but it really is. It's so exciting. It's been so exciting for two years working on this and to get it over the line and to keep it out of the media has been an enormous challenge. We can now really get stuck into the delivery of the event and August 2023 couldn't roll on quick enough. We would have had it earlier had it not been for COVID, but August 23, everything signed and sealed. There is a huge need for shows in this country and it's the type of thing that grandfathers will bring grandsons to. Families will come into a family friendly event.

Well, Kevin Elliott is the man behind, or I'd like to say the plane brain behind the Pacific Air show that is coming to our shores next year. My new best friend, Kevin. Good morning. Great to have you on today. Oh my goodness, we're a year out, over a year out from this event. August 2023. It is going to be huge. It's going to be the biggest event the Gold Coast has ever seen. Yeah, we're really excited. Coming all the way from Huntington Beach, California, bringing it right here to the Goldie as we can see from these pictures, this is what you can expect. Racing along that huge stretch of sand on the Gold Coast Huntington Beach, it is the most awarded air show in the United States and it is coming across the Pacific here. It is going to be absolutely huge no matter where you are on the beach, on the Gold Coast, there's room for everyone here. That's the beautiful thing about it, right? Being an overwater air show right here on the beautiful beach. You have kilometres and kilometres of straight wide beach. So we're going to have a view for everybody, even from the buildings, anywhere. You're not going to have a bad seat in the House. That is a really good point because there is plenty of time to book accommodation, lots of accommodation. You basically can have an apartment at Aisleyne with some of these aircraft as they come. You can wave at the pilots as they go by the kids. You don't have to wrangle crowds if you don't want to do that. But my goodness me, from an economic perspective, this could not come at a better time for us here in Australia. So thank you so much because there will be jobs, there will be tourism here on the Gold Coast. Wonderful? Absolutely. Yeah, we're really focussed on making it good for the community. We want to stimulate jobs accommodation. Our experience in Huntington Beach, California, is it's been a huge driver of economic benefit about $106 million in 2019 just to our city, which is a third the size of the Gold Coast. An all-new Australian airshow was launched on 27 April, to be held on Queensland’s Gold Coast. The event will be known as the Pacific Airshow Gold Coast and is a sister event to the successful Pacific Airshow, held at Huntington Beach in southern California. The annual event will be a waterfront airshow featuring both civil and military performers and will be held each August, beginning in 2023. The event will be run by the organisers of the US event, Code Four. The 2021 US event was seen by more than three million people and the show is the only event in the US to win the US Air Force Show Site of the Year, in 2018 and 2019. Code Four CEO Kevin Elliott told ADM the new event, to be held on the beach and along the Esplanade on the Gold Coast, has the support of current Defence Minister Peter Dutton and Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business Stuart Robert, as well as Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.

One of the United States' largest air shows, Pacific Airshow, today announced they would hold an Australian version over Gold Coast beach in August next year. Pacific Airshow is held at Huntington Beach, California, annually and claims host three million people across the three day show. "There has never been an air event of this scale staged anywhere in Australia," said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate. "That’s why the Gold Coast is famous for fun – in the air and on the ground. “This event underscores our commitment to attracting the very best in global entertainment for our residents, visitors and businesses.”

When Kevin Elliott, CEO of Surf City entertainment company Code Four, visited the first Pacific Airshow in 2016, he immediately saw the value and wanted to get in on the action. And so he did. After becoming an investor in 2017, Elliott bought and took the Huntington Beach-based event under his company’s wing in 2018.
